Reflexivity and Creativity as Competences - Ability to Innovate in the Context of Aging Societies (InnoRix)

How can reflexivity as a personal competence be operationally classified? Which role does reflexivity play on the level of managerial experts, and to what extent can causal relationships to one´s age and one´s working age be established? Which type of corporate culture promotes the integration of the demographic issue into corporate politics, and which prevents it? How do reflexive competences interact, conflict with, and evolve together with the innovation milieus of organizations or organizational units?

The research project on "Reflexivity and Creativity as Competences - Ability to Innovate in Aging Societies" addresses these and additional issues. In addition to an already developed tool to analyze and develop the ability to innovate on an institutional level, a complementary tool on a personal level is introduced.

The research project sees innovation competence in a conceptionally novel way and thus aims to promote the so-far diffuse discussion on older people´s ability to innovate by means of a concise, inderdisciplinary-grounded competence model. In detail, this mission is pursued in five scientific and technical work objectives: work on a theory of one´s personal ability to innovate (1), a procedure to evaluate innovation competence (2), an approach to analyze supporting and preventing conditions (3), a typology of demographically-related cultures of innovation and organization (4), and a concept to develop the ability to innovate (5), in this context related to the work ability and its development until the transition into retirement.

How can the productivity of knowledge, learning effects, and innovation be measured and in their effects be understood, observed, and steered in a better way? How can established procedures to measure productivity contribute to solving these problems? Where are their limitations? And how do controllers themselves manage? How can controlling as practice of social learning be institutionalized in organizations?
The EFFInDi team analyzes these and additional issues. To do this, we discuss controlling from the perspective of its reflexivity: based on the concept of institutional reflexivity we understand controlling as potentially (formally) reflexive procedure of organizational self-regulation, and search for the actual level of the reflexivity of controlling applications.

The EFFInDi team expect themselves to reflect the practical experiences and findings back to controlling professionals. Practical experts are the main contact persons - both when gathering our insights and when applying them.
