Visiting Professor of Corporate Finance

The Visiting Professorship of Corporate Finance is analyzing basic corporate finance decisions in firms in terms of investment and financing. Companies use cash from investors and banks to invest in new projects. New projects can be new factories, R&D, but also smaller investments such as buying a new laptop for the new recruit. All these investments are associated with expenses that need to be financed. In the lectures that are offered by the Chair, we try to answer all these questions and try to highlight the different aspects to the students. What are good investments for companies? What are cheap financing possibilities?

In order to answer these questions, we teach the principles of capital-market based corporate finance theories. Established theories, such as the Capital Asset Pricing Model, are used and mixed with methods of capital budgeting, such as the net present value.

The Visiting Professorship of Corporate Finance was established in 2020 and is led by Florian Kiesel. Since 2018 Florian Kiesel is Assistant Professor at Grenoble Ecole de Management, however, he is teaching at Zeppelin University continuously since 2016.

Companies are faced two questions in their daily activity: Which investments are useful and should be done and how the company should be financed? In our classes, we try to answer these two questions.

Both static and dynamic approaches of capital budgeting are presented as a tool for the students and to provide a reasonable decision making.
