This study program teaches key content from business administration to a university-equivalent level, focusing in particular on the concerns of internationally-active industrial companies of various sizes. It combines the classic, key topics of management research with issues from the fields of psychology, the cultural sciences and the social sciences , thus comprehensively covering the current range of demands faced by managers and leaders.

Main topics & teaching portfolio

The Business & Leadership for Engineers executive master's program will teach you about all digital matters and theories based on the most recent academic research. It will provide you with methods and tools as well as interdisciplinary skills from a variety of academic perspectives. Equipped with these techniques, you will be in a position to methodically carry out your own research activities. The final semester of the study program is therefore dedicated to writing a research-oriented, university-equivalent master's thesis.

The Business & Leadership for Engineers (eMA BEL) executive master's program is a modular program comprising 12 classroom-based modules, each lasting 5 days. The program is taught in weekly blocks from Monday to Friday in small groups. It takes place at our campus in Friedrichshafen (9 modules), Berlin (1 module) and South Africa (2 modules).

Study program & sequence

The master's study program consists of a single phase with mandatory modules, elective modules and the master's thesis.


Classroom-based modules & elective modules

  • Our classroom-based modules cover facets of management research relating to economics and social sciences, as well as legal, social and political aspects. In addition, elective modules allow you to fine-tune your personal profile and study alongside students from other eMA programs.


Project work

  • As a master's student, during the first twelve months of the course you will do a project relating to your own business context in parallel with your seminars. This project allows you to immediately apply the content you have learned in a company environment and to consistently translate theory into practice.


Master's phase

  • The master's phase involves the completion of the study program with the writing of the master's thesis and the subsequent thesis defense.

Professional development, practical training & internationality

The practice of learned content and its real-world application are at the forefront of the program.


Throughout their studies, participants work on their own business project where they can apply the knowledge they have learned. As well as this, the participants will steadily improve their leadership and business skills. These include, for example, social skills , reflexivity and networking skills . Guided by trainers and coaches, and with the help of personalized and experience-based learning formats, participants will expand their skillsets and drive innovations.


Collaborations with prestigious universities and a worldwide network allow the eMA students to take a global outlook when arranging their study content , while also allowing them to gain hands-on entrepreneurial experience.


We developed the executive master's program in conjunction with leading companies in the fields of engineering and technology.

Internationality

The two-week International Winter Academy provides participants with insights into real-world engineering and economic situations in an intercultural context. Our cooperation partner is the University of Cape Town (South Africa).


Conditions of admission

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant professional experience of at least 12 months
  • Current employment contract or registered self-employment
  • Knowledge of English (ZU test)
  • Successful participation in ZU selection process

Business cooperations & financing

The tuition fees for the 21-month Business & Leadership for Engineers executive master's program are € 25,900.

Selection process & application

That's why, subsequent to the extensive online application, the selection process for the executive master's program includes a face-to-face meeting on campus.


We will conduct one or two interviews with you, where your interview partners will be academics or, for certain programs, even external people such as friends and patrons of Zeppelin University.

Note

The application procedure for the Master of Science in Business & Leadership for Engineers , which is taught through English, will also involve a written English test on the same day as your interview.
