Zeppelin University aims to provide their students with overall management skill set to foster their abilities to become responsible decision-makers in the fields of business, culture, and politics. Morover, the university aims to encourage their students to already gain experience in leadership during their regular studies.
Besides, since 2010, a selected and high-performing student have had the chance to gain in-depth leadership experience within the organization of Zeppelin University itself.

As a full voting member of the board of directors, the vice president for student affairs is responsible for both strategic and operational projects and works on a critical position connecting the university’s administration to the student body.
For one year, the position of the vice presidency for student affairs will appoint an outstanding student who has successfully passed the four-stage selection process to the highest executive decision-making body of the university: the board of directors. High-performing students from the 3rd semester Bachelor and 2nd semester Master can apply for this position.
For the duration of a legislative period of one year, the Student Vice President is exempted from his studies and receives appropriate remuneration. Furthermore, he gains access to a private office and is responsible for a cost center and staff. He represents the university both internally and externally and reports directly to Zeppelin University’s president.

Also, every Student Vice President sets individual work focus. In the past, various long-term projects were realized, for example in civil society, marketing, program design, health service or student welfare. In general, the profile of the Student Vice President is comparable with the regular position of a Vice President for Student Affairs in higher education.
The appointment process of a vice president for student affairs usally starts during the spring.
After candidates pass succesfully two interviews, a final election takes place at the senate of the Zeppelin University, whereupon the board of the ZU| Foundation summons the designated vice president according to the president´s suggestion.
