We are pleased to announce the publication of a new scientific article:

"From Complexity to Cooperation: Solving Institutional Challenges in Digital Road Projects"

In this article, published in the journal Edelweiss Applied Science and Technology, authors Henrik Kleis and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Schulz explore the challenges and solutions of inter-institutional cooperation in implementing digital road projects..

Research focus and findings
The digitalization of road infrastructure requires close cooperation between a wide range of stakeholders from industry, research and administration. The article identifies key challenges, including

  • Complexity and synchronization: the growing number of international players and digital systems increases complexity.
  • Trust and transparency: Trust between stakeholders is essential to minimize uncertainties.
  • Conflicts of interest: Different objectives require clear role definitions.

To solve these problems, the article presents the Institutional Role Model (IRM), a strategic management tool for promoting cooperation, transparency and conflict resolution.

Relevance and practical applications
The IRM offers a structured method for defining roles and responsibilities in projects, improving inter-institutional communication and strengthening trust between stakeholders. This model is particularly relevant for international initiatives such as Gaia-X and C-ROADS, which are driving the digital transformation in mobility.
