Doctoral Studies

The chair is hosting several doctoral theses and post-doc projects, which address the different research fields of the chair. These projects include ethnographic investigations into organisation theory in the context of cultural organisations, research on specific professional groups in the cultural sector, on visitors of cultural institutions, on change management in cultural organisations, on the reception of art as well as on cultural policy and discourse analysis. Doctoral theses can be submitted as monographs or cumulative papers and are written in German or English. Emerging researchers at the chair regularly take part in doctoral colloquia of the Center for Cultural Production at ZU, the Fachverband Kulturmanagement, and of their individual research projects. They are also encouraged to present their research at national and international conferences, such as the European Sociological Association (Sociology of the Arts), International Conference on Cultural Policy Research, International Association of Arts and Cultural Management Conference, or the Biennial Congress of the International Association of Empirical Aesthetics.
