We are pleased to announce the publication of a new scientific article. The article "Sharing Business Data Securely: Insights from the European Gaia-X Project on Technical and Economic Roles Enabling Federated Data Spaces" was written by Christoph Heinbach, Jens Gessler, Hanspeter Rychlik, Christine Stecenko, Horst Wieker and Wolfgang H. Schulz and published in the Journal of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy. The full article is available here.
The publication examines the technical and economic roles required for the establishment and operation of federated data spaces within the European Gaia-X project. Based on two mobility use cases, the study identifies 39 specific organizational roles and summarizes them in eight meta-roles. It thus provides valuable insights into the development and use of secure, interoperable and sovereign data spaces that help companies maximize the value of their data.
The findings make a significant contribution to the further development of data ecosystems. By combining technical and economic perspectives, they create a sound basis for both scientists and practitioners to successfully implement innovative use cases.
