The Deutschlandstipendium

Arianna Elsässer | Germany Scholarship Holder BA CCM Start 2017

The Deutschlandstipendium is a great recognition of my academic achievements and my commitment. The financial support from the Merck Finck Foundation allows me to continue to focus on my studies and university projects.

Arianna Elsässer | Germany Scholarship Holder BA CCM Start 2017

The Deutschlandstipendium supports students who are expected to achieve outstanding academic and professional results. The federal government and private sponsors work together to ensure that high-achieving students realize their potential.

The concept of achievement on which this scholarship is based is deliberately broad:

  • In addition to good grades, the willingness to take on responsibility or overcoming obstacles in one's own life and education also count.
  • Half of the monthly grant of 300 euros is paid by the federal government and half by private sponsors.
  • Students who receive funding should have their backs free for as long as possible and be able to concentrate on their education. The funding generally lasts at least two semesters and covers a maximum of the standard period of study.
  • The funding is independent of income and is granted in addition to BAföG benefits.
  • However, the Deutschlandstipendium is not compatible with other financial support based on talent and/or performance, such as a scholarship from the Begabtenförderungswerke.
  • Unfortunately, parallel funding through the Deutschlandstipendium and the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship is not possible, as the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship focuses on the individual support of particularly talented and high-achieving students.

Latest news

Depending on when (in which semester) you apply and are accepted into the program, you can receive the scholarship (with reservations) for the entire duration of your studies (until the end of the standard period of study).

Relevant information

The Deutschlandstipendium is aimed at students at Zeppelin University.

Please note that the Deutschlandstipendium is not compatible with any other financial support based on talent and/or performance that exceeds 30 euros/month, such as a scholarship from the Begabtenförderungswerke. The compatibility of the Deutschlandstipendium with a ZU scholarship or a reduction is possible, but must be checked individually.

Both students who will be completing their final semester and students who have already benefited from the Deutschlandstipendium can apply for a Deutschlandstipendium.
Scholarship holders who take a leave of absence, for example due to maternity leave, parental leave or illness, will not receive any funding during this time. If they continue their studies, the grant period is extended by the duration of the leave of absence. Special rules apply to internships: Scholarship holders who are completing an internship in Germany or abroad as stipulated in the study regulations will also receive the Deutschlandstipendium during this time. The Deutschlandstipendium cannot be received during a leave of absence for another internship that is not provided for in the study regulations. The approval period is extended by the duration of the leave of absence.
