Springer Nature Verlag has published an edited book comprising results from the GenoMobil research network. The editors, who are also co-authors of the individual articles, are Michael Roos (Ruhr University Bochum), Marcel Hunecke (Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts), Matthias Weiss (ZU), Nicola Werbeck (Ruhr University Bochum) and Dirk Wittowsky (University of Duisburg-Essen).

The research network dealt with the topic of cooperative organization of mobility. Cooperative organization of mobility is a social innovation and a promising approach for efficient mobility in the future. Cooperatives play an important role in the sustainability transformation. This open access book is the first comprehensive review of mobility cooperatives and examines their potential, opportunities and challenges. The contributions examine various aspects from an interdisciplinary perspective (organizational and business models, willingness to pay, transport and spatial science aspects, psychological influencing factors), describe real-life experiments that have been carried out and evaluate their findings. A guideline also provides assistance for the establishment and operation of a mobility cooperative. This volume contains contributions from the research project “GenoMobil - Cooperatives as a form of organization for a socio-ecological transformation of integrated mobility”. Its target group are mobility scientists as well as private individuals and institutions in search of suitable organizational forms of joint mobility.
