ZU Professor Josef Wieland appointed to the GIBS International Research Advisory Board

Professor Dr. Josef Wieland, Director of the Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin | LEIZ and holder of the Chair of Institutional Economics, Organizational Governance, Integrity Management & Transcultural Leadership at Zeppelin University (ZU), has been appointed to the International Research Advisory Board of the renowned Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) at the University of Pretoria. The institute was ranked among the top 30 worldwide in this year's Financial Times ranking with several programs.

Appointed to the International Research Advisory Board of the renowned Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) at the University of Pretoria: Professor Dr. Josef Wieland.


The newly established International Research Advisory Board under Dean Professor Morris Mthombeni will play an important role in shaping the research agenda of the GIBS. It aims to both address Africa-specific economic challenges and make a meaningful contribution to the broader global discussion on these issues.


The panel brings together a distinguished group of scholars recognized for their influential research on key economic issues shaping Africa and the global landscape. The specific areas of research focus on African markets and management, entrepreneurship, leadership and performance in Africa, and ethical economic behavior in complex contexts.


Professor Dr. Josef Wieland will participate in virtual meetings twice a year to discuss research progress, share best practices and identify future research directions. In this way, he contributes to the goal of conducting and disseminating world-class research within GIBS and through international partnerships, ultimately increasing knowledge, skills and impact in the global business world. In addition, Josef Wieland is able to provide strategic advice on research priorities, helping to bridge the gap between African and international business contexts. The economist and business ethicist also provides external guidance and support to GIBS' research initiatives, including informing the Director of Research on procedural matters, which ultimately enhances GIBS' research programs.
