Queue management and reservation for EV charging stations

We research and implement technologies and processes for the effective management of queues and reservations at charging stations.

Project SeQueRe (Services for Queue and Reservation Management in Electric Mobility)

The research project SeQueRe (Services for Queue and Reservation Management in Electric Mobility) is dedicated to the development of a holistic solution for the management of queues and reservations at (semi-)public charging points for electric vehicles. The aim of the project is to overcome the increasing challenges associated with the electrification of the transport sector and to enable efficient use of the charging infrastructure.

The increasing number of electric vehicles creates the need to reduce or prevent waiting times at charging stations in order to minimize traffic obstructions and safety risks. The SeQueRe consortium, consisting of various partners from industry and research, is working together to develop a standardized solution based on open systems and defined interfaces.

The project includes the research and implementation of technologies and processes for the effective management of queues and reservations at charging stations. Both technical and organizational aspects are taken into account to ensure seamless integration into existing infrastructures.

By introducing standardized reservation and queuing functions, the project aims to optimize the use of charging infrastructure and enable transparent communication between electric vehicle users and charging station operators. In addition, possible effects on traffic and energy supply are analyzed in order to promote the sustainable development of the electric mobility sector.

The SeQueRe research project contributes to increasing the acceptance and spread of electric vehicles and supporting the transition to sustainable mobility.

Our research work

We are responsible for mapping customer requirements and acceptance and for deriving the customer journey in connection with the management of queues and reservations at charging points for electric vehicles.

Our tasks also include identifying all relevant systems and interfaces to ensure seamless integration of the developed solution. In addition, we are instrumental in defining the queuing theory for electric vehicle charging and perform evaluations to analyze multidimensional parameters that influence the queuing calculation.

Another important aspect of our work is the development of a role model that clearly defines the different actors and their tasks related to queue and reservation management. Through our expertise and research work, we are helping to maximize the efficiency and user-friendliness of the developed solution and make a significant contribution to the promotion of electromobility.
