The ZEPPELIN Chair of Innovation Management and Transformation examines how organisational actors can develop, design, and implement new products, processes, and business models. In this context, particular emphasis is placed on teaching and research concerning the human aspect of innovation management and on how individuals can be led, managed, and supported to achieve innovative outcomes, especially in challenging situations. This includes the study of teamwork, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence within organisations, as well as the effects of crises on innovators and entrepreneurs. This focus is vital for providing evidence-based recommendations that assist organisations in responding to crises such as wars, economic downturns, or the climate crisis while capitalising on opportunities through new technologies like AI.

Initiated and conducted by the Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin | LEIZ under the direction of Prof Dr Josef Wieland, the Caravan’s overarching goal is to tackle questions on a new type of leadership and ability to cooperate across cultural and disciplinary borders. To realise this, a wide range of different formats is implemented.

The work of the BIC is based on empirical studies regarding the status, challenges and opportunities of digital transformation for companies in the Lake Constance region, which are conducted in biennial rhythm. Currentfocal areas of BIC are cybersecurity, digital sustainability management, lifelong learning and societal implications of artificial intelligence.
