The 15th International Chinese Business Forum took place on August 3 at the University of Oxford. Among those in attendance was Dr. Matthias Niedenführ, Senior Research Fellow at LEIZ, who gave a keynote speech. The event was attended by over 100 Chinese entrepreneurs, scientists and leaders from Europe. The aim was to discuss the topic: “Opportunities and challenges for the development of Chinese entrepreneurs in the digital age.”
The event was organized by the Tsinghua Chinese Business Research Center, the China Institute of Overseas Chinese and Chinese Studies and held in collaboration with the Oxford Institute of Global Development and Prospects. It offered an intensive dialogue at the interface of business, culture, and technology.
In his presentation, Dr. Matthias Niedenführ introduced the dual logic of “relational rationality” and “transactional rationality” in Chinese business culture. He emphasized the revival of Confucian ethics in contemporary entrepreneurship.
Other highlights included informative contributions on overseas Chinese, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, geopolitical shifts, industrial transformation, and educational innovation. These topics were presented by leading figures and sparked lively debates. The book “Teochew Business Famous Talents” also celebrated its premiere at the forum.
The forum clearly demonstrated how important it is to build bridges between East and West—through science, dialogue, and shared values.
