Dr. Matthias Niedenführ at the University of Lodz

07/12/2024

Dr. Matthias Niedenführ, a Senior Research Fellow at LEIZ, recently visited the University of Lodz, Poland, from June 12 to 14. This visit was part of LEIZ's ongoing collaboration with the University of Lodz under the Transcultural Caravan Network program. The visit reciprocated the earlier visit by Prof. Tomasz Kaminski during the Fall Semester of 2023.

During his visit, Dr. Niedenführ actively participated in the International Conference Lodz East Asia Meeting, themed "International Relations in Asia - the Roles of State and Non-state Actors in Asia". He delivered an insightful lecture titled "Employing Contradictory Functions - Relational and Transactional Approaches in Chinese Business Culture and Practice". His visit also included engaging networking discussions with esteemed academics such as Simon Curtis (University of Surrey), David O'Brien (Jagiellonian University, Krakow), Joanna Nawrotkiewicz (University of Warsaw), Chris Wensink (The Hague), Konstantinos Kourtikakis (University of Illinois), and Zhang Weidong Zhang (Winona State University).

A key objective of Dr. Niedenführ's visit was to strengthen LEIZ's ties with the University of Lodz by engaging in productive discussions with Prof. Tomasz Kaminski, Prof. Dominik Mierzejewski, and Prof. Joanna Ciesielska-Klikowska. Honored with an invitation as a visiting scholar to the University of Lodz, Dr. Niedenführ is now planning to develop a collaborative course format on China-related topics for students at both ZU and the University of Lodz, in partnership with Prof. Kaminski.
