LEIZ (Zeppelin University) and ESSEC Business School hosted the PhD workshop “A Relational View on Economics” on September 6th and 7th at the ESSEC campus in Paris (Cergy). The workshop was planned in conjunction with the international conference “Cooperating in Value-Creating Networks” in order to introduce young scientists to the research program of relational economics and to be able to integrate them into the discussions of the conference.
The best 9 contributions from Europe, America, Africa and Asia were selected from more than 15 applications and these applicants were invited to present and discuss their research projects related to the research program. With the generous support of the German-French University (DFH), scholarships for workshop participation were made possible. The LEIZ was represented with contributions by Josef Wieland and Jessica Geraldo Schwengber. The PhD workshop itself was organized by Jean Müßgens and Lukas Belser, both of LEIZ.
Common themes emerged from the discussion, such as collective motivation, personal values, intercultural competence, trust building, management of cultural complexity, and shared value creation.
The PhD workshop is part of a broader initiative to expand an international research network working on an interdisciplinary but open framework on how value creation and cooperation can be made better, fairer, more inclusive and with more consideration of people, the environment and the planet.
