The Annual Global Symposium & Transcultural Leadership Summit 2024 was a transcultural journey filled with engaging inputs and discussions, all aimed at exploring the future of transculturality from education to leadership. This inspiring event brought together around 200 participants from across the globe, fostering connections and conversations on our shared challenges and opportunities.

Prof. Dr. Darla K. Deardorff, in her opening address, emphasized the importance of connections in transculturality. She highlighted the mission of the World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence: to bring together students, practitioners, policymakers, educators, and researchers from diverse disciplines, languages, and geographies to learn from and with one another. Prof. Deardorff underscored that in these times of division, transculturality serves as a call to focus on what unites us as human beings. She reminded us that the power of relationships lies at the heart of transculturality, enabling us to bridge divides and build a more inclusive, connected, and just world.

Prof. Dr. Josef Wieland shared thought-provoking insights, emphasizing that the challenges of our era often arise from diverse cultural understandings and the lack of common ground. Transculturality, he explained, is grounded in shared human experiences and the cooperative creation of new values and commonalities through interactive mutual transformation and learning.

The event featured several engaging sessions, including the opening keynote "Walking together in a world of many worlds” by Dr. Simon West, interactive workshops on topics ranging from sustainable leadership development to digital transformation, an expert talk with Prof. Dr. Kenneth Gergen and Prof. Dr. Bayo Akomolafe, and short impulses on navigating leadership paradoxes, Ubuntu, and the documentary “Waste Land”. These sessions provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas and collaboratively explore solutions for transcultural challenges.
