As part of a research trip to Beijing, Dr. Matthias Niedenführ, Senior Research Fellow at LEIZ, was invited by Prof. Long Denggao to give a lecture at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Prof. Long is a professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the head of the Centre for Chinese Entrepreneurs at the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University. He has been a visiting researcher at Yale and Harvard, among other universities, and is a member of the project “Beijing Outstanding Talent in Social Science in the New Century.” Long Denggao and Matthias Niedenführ have been collaborating for several years on topics related to entrepreneurship and the economic history of China.
The topic of the lecture on September 30th, attended by 50 participants, was “Confucian Entrepreneurs and Chinese Management.” Dr. Niedenführ presented his research on companies in China that have developed genuinely Chinese approaches to business ethics and concrete implementation measures. The subsequent discussion also addressed the current challenges in scientific cooperation between Germany and China.
The exchange with researchers on an international level, including from China, is of great importance to LEIZ. A detailed report on Dr. Niedenführ's lecture is available below on the website of the Confucius Institute Duisburg.
