CHE University Ranking: ZU once again in the top group in the field of political science

ZU has once again achieved a top position in the recently published University Ranking 2024/25 of the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE). In the field of political science, the ZU study program in Politics, Public Administration and International Relations (PAIR) ranks among the best of all German universities and colleges for both Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

"In research and teaching, our political and administrative science programmes deal with topics that have lost none of their topicality: whether climate change, migration, international security, social cohesion or the consequences of digitalization. The outstanding performance of our PAIR degree programs in the current CHE University Ranking once again confirms that our students not only feel they are in good hands with us, but also that they are in a position to investigate socially relevant problems and work on them using innovative scientific methods," comments ZU President Professor Dr. Klaus Mühlhahn on the success.

The CHE attests that the PAIR degree programs offer students "excellent study conditions" overall. They also receive numerous very good ratings, including for the introduction to academic work, support from teaching staff, support during studies and for stays abroad, the range of courses and digital teaching elements, the organization of studies and examinations, the practical orientation of teaching, the career guidance on offer and various equipment features. This is now the fifth time that the CHE University Ranking has examined ZU's Political and Administrative Sciences. In 2011/12 and 2015 as well as in 2018/19 and 2021/22, the study programs also achieved top rankings among all German universities and colleges.

In the CHE University Ranking, a third of the subjects at German universities and colleges are re-evaluated every year. This year it is computer science, mathematics, physics, pharmacy, political science/social sciences, sociology, medicine, dentistry, nursing science, geosciences, geography as well as sport/sports science, chemistry, biochemistry and biology/biological sciences. With around 120,000 students surveyed, the CHE University Ranking has been the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of universities in the German-speaking world for more than 25 years. The ranking includes students' assessments of the study conditions at their university as well as facts about studies, teaching and research for more than 10,000 degree programs at German universities.
