Friedrichshafen. How does a family-owned business with deep regional roots manage to succeed on the international stage? What role do innovation, long-term thinking, and social responsibility play in this? The next Citizens’ University event at Zeppelin University (ZU) on Tuesday, November 10, will address these questions. The guest speaker is Ravensburg-based family entrepreneur Senator h.c. Udo J. Vetter, chairman of the advisory board and a member of the Vetter Pharma owner family. The event begins at 7:15 p.m. on the ZU’s ZF Campus in Fallenbrunnen.
Under the title “Vetter – From Pharmacy to Global Player: Entrepreneurship, Responsibility, and the Future from Ravensburg,” Udo J. Vetter will provide insights into the development of the internationally active pharmaceutical services provider, which began more than 75 years ago as a small pharmacy in Ravensburg. The focus will be on the challenges and opportunities facing family-run businesses as they navigate the tension between regional roots, global competition, and social responsibility.
Since 1987, Udo J. Vetter has held various leadership positions at Vetter, thereby contributing significantly to the stability and sustainability of the family-owned company. He has also served as Chairman of the Advisory Board since 2008. In addition, he is actively involved in the regional economy as well as in education and culture. For many years, Udo J. Vetter has supported international study abroad programs for ZU students through a travel scholarship.
Following his lecture, Udo J. Vetter will engage in a discussion with ZU President Professor Dr. Anja Achtziger and the audience. The BürgerUniversität thus takes up a central approach of ZU: examining economic developments within their social context, bringing different perspectives into dialogue with one another, and jointly discussing questions about shaping the future.
