Junior Researchers

As part of its consistent research orientation, Zeppelin University considers the education and support of junior researchers to be of the highest importance. Therefore, on January 20, 2012, the "Zeppelin University Graduate School | ZUGS" was officially opened.

„For my PhD, ZU offers an exciting and inspiring environment of researchers from different faculties, support in my research activities, and many possibilities of participation and networking."

The Dean of the "Zeppelin University Graduate School | ZUGS", Professor Dr Dr h.c. mult. Alfred Kieser, at the same time represented on the board as Vice President | Research, is excited about his role. "We are looking forward to exciting PhD projects, especially those that are not part of the mainstream and that are interdisciplinary. By means of a program that allows an education tailor-made for the specific project, we lay the foundations for this."

After receiving the right to award doctoral and postdoctoral (professorial teaching qualification) degrees in September 2011, ZUGS now supports all stages in an academic career.

It is not only oriented towards the faculties, but also towards the multi-disciplinary research clusters and associations of Zeppelin University - and this is unique in Germany.

In this way, the ZUGS combines an interdisciplinary research horizon with faculty-specific knowledge for the three classical academic degrees

| Master
| PhD
| Professorial Teaching Qualification ("Habilitation")

In the classical Humboldtian sense, research on the cutting edge of the 21st century requires personalities. Research makes personalities - with a sense for questioning the in-between, i.e. asking questions that have not been asked before in this way and where you simply know that there is more than one productive answer. And personalities shape research - by sharp observation and asking innovative questions that concern society as a whole.

Relationally Able to Relate
The best way to learn research is by role models and by researching with others. And it is most successful in manageable teams with a clearly defined contact person and in groundbreaking cooperations between scholars on all levels of academic discovery.

International Orientation
The "Zeppelin University Graduate School | ZUGS" considers an internationally oriented academic education to be highly important. This is why it supports stays abroad - for research or for studying - at one of its numerous partner universities around the world.

Academic Advisory Board
The International Academic Advisory Board of Zeppelin University takes on a consulting role, especially regarding the overall structural development of research at ZU, and the issue of junior researchers.

The committee, founded in January 2011, integrates ZU even more closely into the international scientific community due to its far-reaching network of contacts.

Funding Junior Researchers
The ZU-internal research support system FUSY was expanded in September 2011, and almost exclusively geared towards the requirements of junior researchers. Thus, funding can be granted, e.g. to master students for a trip to a conference, to postdoctoral candidates for a project proposal, and to PhD candidates for the publication of their thesis.

The department of research funding at ZU consults and supports in all such questions in order to offer a tailor-made guidance in the individual phases of an academic career.
