Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming Matthias Schulze, Global Vice President for ADAS products at ECARX, to the "Mobility Innovations & Digitalization" lecture. The topic was autonomous driving and the current state of development of the technology.
Development speed is the USP of ECARX
In a company presentation by ECARX, we were given deeper insights into the product portfolio and the speed of development. Only 18 months from order to start of production is ECARX's major USP and shows the speed with which the company is working on the future of mobility. Matthias Schulze then took us on a journey on the subject of autonomous driving, starting with the great hopes of OEMs to drive autonomously by the year 2000 and ending with today's certainty that there are still significant developments and challenges ahead of us before we can finally do without the steering wheel completely. Although fully autonomous driving may not be just around the corner, the next technological leaps are imminent, thanks in part to the work of ECARX.
Both the keynote and the discussion were insightful and inspiring, providing our students with an insight into an important cornerstone on the road to the mobility of the future.
We would like to thank Matthias for sharing his expertise with us and all the students for the stimulating discussion.
