Sven Liebert

At Zeppelin University (ZU), he’s known as an up-and-coming politician, host, and networker. At heart, he’s a down-to-earth native of the Ruhr region. But no matter what Sven Liebert takes on, there’s always plenty of action.

For Liebert, college itself turned into a small yet significant adventure, as he was the first person in his family ever to graduate from high school. “It was something completely new, and no one could really help me because not many of my friends’ parents had gone to college,” Liebert admits with a smile. To this day, he has never regretted his gut decision to attend ZU.

At the university, Sven Liebert further developed his political ambitions and was elected Student Senator in 2011, during his second semester. During his term, the senators’ public relations efforts were expanded through a new Facebook presence, and an online voting system was introduced. This resulted in voter turnout rising to more than 80 percent. “We were as proud as can be that everything worked out so well and that college politics at ZU doesn’t have to be boring,” Liebert reports.

After his internship semester at UBS Deutschland AG, the eloquent CME student was ultimately re-elected as a senator—a first in ZU’s university history. Creating more opportunities for students to participate and reducing political apathy remain high on Sven Liebert’s agenda: “In one year of student government, you can really make a difference, and I’ve seen that there are things I’d like to push forward even further. I just really enjoy this job.”
