The Chair of Mobility, Trade and Logistics at Zeppelin University is pleased to announce the publication of a new scientific paper in the International Journal of Sustainable Development and Planning.
The publication entitled "Institutional Framework for Hyper-Cooperation: Dynamics in the Digital Economy", authored by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Schulz, Vincent Geilenberg and Henrik Kleis, analyses the dynamics of the digital economy with a special focus on decentralized data ecosystems in Europe.
While US and Chinese hyperscalers rely on centralized structures and economies of scale, the study examines hyper-cooperation as an alternative organizational principle for the digital economy. The Institutional Role Model (IRM) is presented as a system-dynamic instrument that creates trust, facilitates market integration and reduces complexity. Especially in the context of Gaia-X, this model can serve as an economic system architecture to promote a competitive digital infrastructure based on European values and standards.
The study provides valuable scientific and practical insights for companies, policy makers and researchers dealing with the future of digital data spaces and their governance.
