At the consortium meeting on November 8 in Berlin, Anna Lesche and Hanspeter Rychlik from the Chair of Mobility, Trade and Logistics and the consortium partners identified the most important use cases for SeQueRe - a research project that aims to develop cross-company and cross-actor solutions for intelligent queue management at charging stations for electric vehicles.
The proportion of electric cars in Germany has seen a remarkable and steady increase in recent years and is set to rise to around 3.9% by 2023. This growth is expected to continue and reshape the landscape of sustainable mobility, but what does this change mean for our public charging infrastructure?
On the one hand, it heralds a surge in demand for charging. On the other hand, the risk of queues is becoming a pressing issue as more and more people want to charge their vehicles at the same time, especially during peak times.
Together with the consortium partners umlaut, the BMW Group, chargecloud GmbH, Digital Charging Solutions, IONITY, the Volkswagen Group and Hubject, these challenges are to be tackled. With a total funding amount of over 2 million euros provided by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, the project consortium aims to find solutions for intelligent and standardized queue management and reservation systems for charging stations. The aim is to avoid long queues at charging stations and make the charging process even more convenient.
