We are pleased to share that Dr. Sabine Wiesmüller, our esteemed colleague and head of the Bodensee Innovation Cluster (BIC) at LEIZ, has been honoured with the distinguished Max Weber Prize 2024. This prestigious award, presented by the Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft (IW), recognizes her groundbreaking doctoral thesis on “The Relational Governance of Artificial Intelligence”. The Max Weber Prize for Business Ethics, carrying an endowed of 5,000 euros, is a testament to the exceptional contributions of young researchers in the field of business and corporate ethics.
The Max Weber Prize for Business Ethics was initiated by Klaus Tesch, a businessman from Wuppertal. Since 1992, the IW has been fostering and promoting research in business and corporate ethical issues and honouring young researchers for their valuable contributions to value-oriented action in science, politics, business, and society. Over the past 30 years, the guiding principle has been that economy and ethics are not contradictory, but rather, they can coexist and create both economic and societal value.
In the current scenario, the four megatrends - demographic change, digitization, decarbonization, and deglobalization - urgently require an ethical framework and the development of sustainable solutions considering their impact on the economy, state, and society. We at LEIZ are particularly delighted that our colleague’s research contribution addresses one of the most disruptive factors of our time - artificial intelligence and its regulation. Her award-winning work has been published by Springer Professional and can be accessed here.
