From July 20 to 26, 2025, the Transcultural Student Research Group (TSRG) of Zeppelin University embarked on a thought-provoking research journey to Vietnam, supported by the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUMprogramme of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung. In close collaboration with the Vietnamese-German University (VGU)and local partners, the trip fostered a week of intensive academic exchange and transcultural learning.
The group was warmly welcomed at VGU in Binh Duong on Sunday. In the evening a traditional Vietnamese dinner offered a first opportunity to connect. Monday started with a historical and cultural grounding through lectures by Dr. Ngoc Lan Thi Dang and Ms. Quynh Diem Tran, followed by Dr. Son Lam Le’s presentation on the role of AI in knowledge sharing and ethics.
Tuesday’s programme explored cultural diversity and corporate sustainability with Dr. Hanh Minh Le and addressed decolonization of knowledge and equity in education through Dr. Eva de Melo Ferreira’s session. A workshop on students' research progress rounded out the day with dynamic discussions and peer feedback.
On Wednesday, the group traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, visiting the War Remnants Museum and exploring key historical sites. Thursday brought both a company visit to the consulting firm Mantu, offering insight into consulting and strategy, and a feminist workshop at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, sparking vibrant dialogue around gender and equality.
Friday allowed time for interviews and personal reflection. The journey concluded on Saturday with a memorable excursion to the Mekong Delta. Participants engaged with the local ecosystem and community, tasting honey and coconut products and discussing sustainability and resilience.
The TSRG 2025 trip was defined by cultural exploration, meaningful dialogue, and academic curiosity. It not only deepened scholarly understanding but also strengthened intercultural competence and lasting connections between students from Germany and Vietnam.
