Assigned to the Vice President Research, the Research Support Office (RSO) is responsible in particular for the service-related topics described below.
Acquisition of third-party funding in the research area
The RSO offers ZU researchers comprehensive advice and support in acquiring third-party funding for research projects. This includes, in particular, the search for thematically and strategically suitable funding opportunities for the respective projects as well as detailed, individual and customized 1:1 advice on the preparation of research proposals (i.e. processing of application forms, preparation of financial plans, coordination of kick-off meetings). In addition, the RSO provides researchers with a comprehensive package of information and support tools for acquiring third-party funding. This includes, for example, proposal guidelines and information on funding opportunities. The objective is to relieve researchers to the greatest extent possible of all administrative matters associated with externally funded research.
The designated contact person for third-party funding in the research area is our Research and Open Science Manager Dr. Nadine Reimer (see contact details below).
Research Support System FUSY
The RSO is responsible for the university's internal research support system FUSY, which offers ZU researchers the opportunity to apply for financial or structural funding to support their research activities. FUSY comprises various funding lines that support third-party funding proposals, small-scale research projects, conference and research trips, publications, and the organization of academic events.
The designated contact person for FUSY is Dr Benjamin von dem Berge, Head of Research Support Office (see contact details below).
Open Science
In close cooperation with the University Library, the RSO supports and advises ZU researchers about Open Science (in particular, Open Access and Open Data, including Research Data Management).
The designated contact person for Open Science is our Research and Open Science Manager Dr. Nadine Reimer (see contact details below).
Research documentation system "ZUdoc"
Together with the University Library, the RSO is responsible for the "ZUdoc" system. "ZUdoc" is both the research documentation system (RDS) and the institutional repository of the ZU. While the RSO is responsible for the RDS, the University Library manages the repository.
The designated contact person for ZUdoc is our ZUdoc Key User Simone Schmaus (see contact details below).
