Executive Master in Family Entrepreneurship | eMA FESH

Do you feel ready to join the family business?

You already studied, but you don’t feel ready and equipped to join the family business yet? You collected work experience, but haven’t had the time to reflect it? You want to study once again, but only in a circle of family entrepreneurs?

Our part-time master degree trains and educates the next generation of family entrepreneurs, family officers and people close to family businesses.

"The eMA FESH provided me with very comprehensive and focused information and made my entry into the family business possible in the first place."

Helen Hodeige | eMA FESH Alumna

As Europe's number one part-time Master degree for family entrepreneurship, our study program is geared towards successors, partners, and future executives in family businesses who would like to understand the special business administration of family enterprises. This is done through a combination of theoretical basics and practical trials between the blocks of study.

As a private college, Zeppelin University is itself an entrepreneurial university which is aware that, in educating family business members, we have a special responsibility for the borrowed inheritance of the next generation.
The eMA FESH builds on the scientific expertise of the Friedrichshafen Institute for Family Business | FIF at ZU. This close connection to academic research benefits the students in practice - and this, in turn, benefits science. In addition, sponsors support the further development of the student program. This reciprocal relationship between practice, research and expertise provides a fertile basis for a lively exchange of ideas, consistent development and a successful start to a career in a family business or family office.

Is the Executive Master for Family Entrepreneurship right for you?

The part-time Master's degree course is aimed at successors, shareholders and (prospective) managers in family businesses. The professional experience of the participants is as diverse as the sectors of the family businesses themselves.

Despite the heterogeneity of the students and their family businesses in terms of first degree, age, professional experience, sector, company size and location, they have one thing in common: they are all following in big footsteps as successors or senior managers

The students are the next generation of

  • family business
  • family officers
  • executives
  • or people close to the entrepreneurial families.

Family businesses from multiple perspectives: Our areas of expertise

The team of the Friedrichshafen Institute for Family Businesses

The Executive Master for Family Entrepreneurship | eMA FESH is embedded in the Friedrichshafen Institute for Family Business | FIF and benefits from the scientific expertise available there. This close connection to current research benefits students in practice - and this in turn benefits science. In addition, sponsors support the further development of the course.

What significance do family businesses have for the economy and society? What is the logic behind innovation in family businesses? How do successors become entrepreneurs? Can a generational change strengthen the company? What makes family businesses special?

In addition to research and teaching, FIF promotes the exchange between theory and practice, students, founders and experienced entrepreneurs. With events such as the "FamilienFrühling" or the "Familienklatsch", we offer an informal opportunity to reflect on the topic of family businesses from different perspectives.
