The ZU Club of Alumni

The ZUCA combines the commitment of Zeppelin University and its alumni into a joint alumni work in a singular organization. This is the starting point for a lively network, events and a sustainable and effective exchange between alumni and their alma mater.

Vision & Mission

The ZUCA lives and cultivates the ZU spirit among the alumni.

The Alumni Office is available as a communication platform, coordinates processes, updates and maintains the database, manages membership and administers the finances. Close contact with alumni is maintained via regional groups and their regular meetings. Regional groups manage and organize themselves and are supported by the Alumni Office as required.

Dedicated registered members are organized on a voluntary basis on the ZUCA Board to provide the Alumni Office with ideas and advice. This board supports the alumni work by contributing new concepts and ideas, through direct contact with the alumni and also operationally on a project-related basis. It follows the idea that successful alumni work can only function with a joint approach! With this in mind, all members are invited to help shape the alumni program with their ideas, wishes and commitment.

The cornerstone of Zeppelin University is its strong community, which brings together students, lecturers, researchers, employees, partners and alumni. The active and committed alumni community is an integral part of the ZU identity and a gift not only for current students, who are supported by you with warmth and good advice on their way into professional life. The alumni are also a sounding board for the development of the university and thus of central importance for its future. The ZU spirit and the values that everyone shares at the university unite the ZU family even after graduation. This close bond is nourished by trust and the conviction that ZU and its alumnae and alumni can achieve more together than alone.

We want to strengthen this trust and the joy of making things happen together again. The vision is that the alumni offers and activities within ZUCA appeal to all alumnae and alumni across generations and study programs. Whether you have recently graduated or have been part of the ZU family for many years - you are an important part of our community and we want it to be easy and clear for you to join in and get actively involved.

ZUCA Membership

From 2025, all Zeppelin University students will become members of the ZU Club of Alumni (ZUCA) after graduation - without membership fees. A simple declaration of consent during offboarding is sufficient. This automatic membership ensures that in the future all former students, regardless of their financial situation and with little time investment, will have access to all activities and offers for the alumni network and it will be easier for them to actively participate in network activities.

Our aim is to better present and communicate all the offers that different ZU departments and stakeholders have available for alumni in a structured form. This will give you a clear overview and make it easier for you to decide where you would like to participate or get actively involved. The alumni / ZUCA website, alumni communication channels, brochures, newsletters and meeting offers will be successively revised for this purpose. We will gradually approach you with test versions and ideas.

Registration for the ZUCA via web form will be available shortly. Until then, please use the PDF form, which you can find here:

Das Alumni Board

The Alumni Board is transparently structured along the lines of other ZU advisory bodies. You can read the full terms of reference here. The five-member board will work closely with the Alumni Office, meet at least twice a year, discuss ideas and provide strategic impetus. It will be easier to join: just send an e-mail expressing your interest to the Alumni Office. The current deadline for Board membership from January 2025 is the end of October 2024. We look forward to shaping the offers and activities for the alumni with you and tackling the new topics together!

Events

Personal exchange is at the heart of what drives our community. To promote this, the AlumniOffice organizes a range of event formats both in Friedrichshafen and hopefully wherever our alumni are located.

Alumni in Town

The largest event organized exclusively for alumni at ZU offers a one-day program in a different major city every spring. After Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf and Hamburg, this year we celebrated the 10th meeting.

Summer party Homecoming

Of course, all alumni are invited to the biggest ZU event of the year. In addition to the extensive supporting program, there is a separate program for alumni to inform you about the latest developments at the university.

Alumni regional groups

Regional format that is initiated locally and offers both alumni from the region and alumni who are passing through the region the opportunity to meet up with friends and acquaintances from the university.

Alumni Talk

The format is intended to promote a sustainable and effective exchange between alumni and students in order to grow together into an even stronger community. Alumni talk about their careers and lives in a moderated discussion.

Alumni regional groups and networks

The regional groups are an important part of ZUCA's supra-regional work. The aim is to set up a regional group in every city or region in which several ZU alumni live.

International Alumni Work | DAAD Project

The DAAD supports German universities and research institutions with suitable programs and initiatives to strengthen the overall retention of international alumni.

We are very pleased that ZU has received DAAD funding as part of the "Alumni Program for the Further Education and Retention of International Alumni". The funding project "Reframing Cultural Legacies " will enable us, together with Meike Lettau, Junior Professor of Cultural and Media Policy Studies, not only to expand the skills of alumni to solve development-relevant issues and challenges in foreign cultural and educational policy in 2025 and 2026, but also to take ZU's alumni work and formats to the next international level.
