International Alumni Work | DAAD Project

About the project

One of the overarching aims of the project is to enable a new understanding of oneself and the world based on experience and personal exchange for the professional field of international cultural cooperation. The expansion of international alumni communication, further training measures and more intensive networking of internationally active alumni and thus the strengthening of our international alumni networks are the focus of the sub-project "Overarching alumni work" - which is the responsibility of the Alumni Office. Detailed information on the DAAD funding program can be found here.

DAAD funding program

International alumni of ZU have the opportunity to participate in an 8-day workshop funded by the DAAD on "Reframing Colonial Legacies" at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana in October 2025. The workshop will be preceded by a four-day online training course in September. The call for applications will be published in February 2025.

We cordially invite all alumnae and alumni to participate in the design of the measures within the framework of the funding program and to take part in the training measures and networking events. If you are interested, simply send an e-mail to alumni-office@zu.de

Alumni in Town

The AiT event in Barcelona is part of the ZU funding project "Reframing Cultural Legacies" within the framework of the DAAD funding line "Continuing Education for International Alumni - Overarching Alumni Activities to Improve Cooperation between International Alumni". As part of the funding, up to 10 international alumni from industrialized countries can receive a grant for travel costs and a stay in Barcelona (94 EURO per diem for 4 days including arrival and departure day and 300 EURO travel allowance).

Who can receive the grant?

According to the funding line, international alumni are defined as foreign students - these are

"Students, graduates, academics or lecturers who have completed a degree at a German university or have generally studied, researched or worked at a German university/research institution for at least three months and who have generally returned to work abroad in the meantime."

In individual cases, persons who have dual citizenship or only German citizenship but are definitely and verifiably staying abroad for a very long time may also receive funding after consultation with the funding body.
