"The eMA FESH is the ideal course for anyone who wants to grow professionally and personally."
Conradin Amft I eMA FESH Alumnus
What has changed for eMA FESH students after completing their Master's degree? What career paths have graduates taken and why did they decide to study family businesses while working?
As former students of the interdisciplinary Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen, the alumni are very important members of the university. The alumni are literally "decisive ambassadors" for ZU in all corners of the world and an important link to practice for ZU students. For this reason, the university also supports its alumni in their further biographical phases.

Here you will find a selection of the experiences and alumni careers of eMA FESH graduates:
"For me, the eMA FESH is based on the credo postulated by Prof. Prügl in the first module: "Challenge everything". It wasn't just about being critical, but about developing the ability to deal with new issues in a scientifically sound and critical way. In fact, it was only here that I really learned not only to apply theories, but also to question them critically.
At the same time, the eMA FESH combines an enormous thematic density with great individual freedom: an overview is provided in the face-to-face modules, while the time between the modules can be used to pursue the topics in more depth and further at your own pace. This division is ideal for anyone who doesn't just want to study for exams, but really wants to take away content, as it also allows them to question the material.
In addition to the content, inspiration ultimately comes primarily from the outstanding lecturers: From the old-school general to the hip marketing lecturer, the spectrum is enormously broad and thus offers a diverse environment of interesting sparring partners in addition to pure teaching of the subject matter. Anyone interested in diverse perspectives and interesting people is in perfect hands here. The eMA FESH is the ideal course for anyone who wants to grow professionally and personally."
"Since I was a child, I have been involved in the continuation of our company, but I often felt alone with this challenge because my friends didn't know the underlying difficulties. Thanks to the eMA FESH Master, I was able to shed new light on our family business. The exchange with like-minded people and "different thinkers" often opened my eyes. The alternation between theory and practice was incredibly enriching. This course helped me to make more confident decisions and go my own way. After all, successors to family businesses have a lot in common, but in the end it is still a very individual process. I recommend anyone who is facing the challenge of family business succession to attend the eMA FESH Master."
"The eMA FESH provided me with very comprehensive and targeted information and made it possible for me to join the family business in the first place.
The eMA FESH is suitable for potential successors of family businesses, regardless of whether they will take on an operational role or be (silent) partners. Everyone receives a stable foundation for their future activities.
However, I would advise anyone who has already completed a completely unrelated undergraduate degree to inform themselves in advance about the topics of financing, management and marketing as well as scientific work (in English) so that they can then build on their basic knowledge in the modules.
Without the eMA FESH, I would never have gained so many different perspectives on business-related and personal topics in addition to the knowledge I gained. Building a network with fellow students is very enriching and would never have been so "easy" in any other way. During our studies, we had the opportunity to get to know different entrepreneurs from various industries and to discuss practical issues with them."
"The eMA FESH is for successors and aspiring entrepreneurs for whom a traditional Master's degree from a business school is not enough. Why is it not enough? Because it doesn't answer all the important questions. The special dynamics that exist between companies, families, society, the economy and politics are often beyond the grasp of many people. The eMA FESH takes the time to provide detailed, scientifically sound answers to many of the questions surrounding these dynamics.
Especially the exchange with other successors, who are often in a similar situation, represents a great added value of the eMA FESH. Although such an exchange also takes place in business associations and foundations, it does not take place with such intensity and against a scientific background. You can tell that FIF is one of the leading institutes worldwide in this field of research.
Without the eMA FESH, as a successor I would only discover many of these dynamics and issues during the handover process - completely unprepared. It's good and helpful to be able to prepare and deal with certain things."

Nicole Dillinger | Nachfolgerin Edeka Dillinger
For family Dillinger, their own five Edeka stores have always been the center around which family life has revolved. It was therefore not surprising that Nicole Dillinger decided very early on to follow in her father's and grandmother's footsteps. After completing her bachelor's degree in business administration at Regensburg University of Applied Sciences, she gained professional experience in a structurally similar but non-family Edeka store while working at eMA FESH. The future of the five multi-award-winning Dillinger stores is now gradually becoming her responsibility.

Matthias Kirch | Director HR EUROPA-PARK
He began working at Germany's largest amusement park as a dual student at the Lörrach University of Cooperative Education (specializing in retail). Immediately after completing his studies in the shopping sector, he began actively supporting the Mack family of entrepreneurs: first as a management systems officer and then as a member of the management team. He also used the eMA FESH as part of his project work and Master's thesis to analyze and restructure the HR department, while also providing general support to the junior and senior generation of the Mack family in the development of the company.

Dan Mayer | Geschäftsführer Rieger
After completing a commercial apprenticeship, he opted for a learning situation that combined classroom and self-study during his first degree in accounting/taxation/auditing at AKAD in Stuttgart. His motivation for the eMA FESH was that he wanted to make a long-term contribution to a family business and wanted to be professionally and personally well equipped for the challenges ahead in close cooperation with the owner family. The next step in his career came while he was still at eMA FESH, namely the acquisition of the Rieger company, where he was immediately entrusted with the position of Managing Director.

Nicolas Lindner | Nachfolger Börlind
During the selection interview for the eMA FESH, he described the great responsibility he feels for his grandmother's and parents' life's work. However, he certainly has the entrepreneurial gene, as he founded his own start-up called pink forest while studying International Management at Munich Business School. After gaining professional insights into the private equity sector, he is now the first of four siblings to join the family business and is looking forward to hopefully soon welcoming one of his sisters as another operational family member.
Why is a well-known doctor of fasting medicine studying the eMA FESH when she could simply send her adult sons to the eMA FESH? Quite simply because she islooking for inspiration from outside, both for the Buchinger Wilhelmi clinics and for herself. Her sons thought it was great and the employees soon felt the one or other new impulse that the boss brought with her from ZU. Read more in the alumni portrait film
