The Immersion Lab has been officially opened at Zeppelin University (ZU). It is equipped with a modern infrastructure designed for both the development and application of immersive content. This creates the basis for a wide range of projects - from developing your own virtual reality games to designing virtual exhibitions. The scientific facility on the ZU ZF Campus in Fallenbrunnen represents an important infrastructural addition and expansion for teaching and research and is also open to schools and educational institutions.
The Immersion Lab is an open space for experimental learning, creative design and research work with immersive technologies. Immersive means that users' senses are tricked by means of special glasses so that they are completely immersed in the virtual environment. As part of the Endowed Chair of Virtual Reality Systems, the Immersion Lab offers students, teachers, researchers and external partners the opportunity to use virtual reality as an educational and research medium. The focus is not only on the technology, but also on the question of how immersive media can open up new perspectives on learning, history, art, the environment and society.
"Virtual reality is a key technology of digital change - especially in the field of education, but also beyond. With the Immersion Lab, we are creating an infrastructure that enables stakeholders in the region to tap into the potential of immersive technologies for their respective areas of focus," explains Professor Dr. Raphael Zender, holder of the Endowed Chair of Virtual Reality Systems.
The Immersion Lab's services are also aimed at schools, teachers and educational institutions that want to explore new ways of learning and teaching. Whether for project days, workshops or as a supplement to regular lessons - tailor-made virtual reality formats can be developed together.
