Friedrichshafen. The German Council of Science and Humanities (WR) has conducted a regular assessment of Zeppelin University (ZU) on behalf of the state and is in favor of extending its state recognition for a further five years. Furthermore, the Council recommends that the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts extend the right to award doctorates and habilitations for the same period.
The final evaluation report by the WR is now available and attests to the numerous advances made by ZU. For example, it states: "Overall, Zeppelin University has developed very well in recent years and has significantly advanced its strategic development." In terms of teaching, the report states: "Studies and teaching at ZU meet extremely high quality standards." And with regard to research, the WR stated: "Due to the structural reforms carried out and the positive developments in research, ZU meets the criteria of the German Council of Science and Humanities as a university entitled to award doctorates in every respect."
"We are delighted with this result, which proves that ZU has done its homework," said ZU President Prof. Klaus Mühlhahn. "The evaluation by the WR also makes it clear that ZU's offerings are at the highest level in all areas." Mühlhahn thanked the academics, staff, students and other people involved in the process, such as the sponsors and partners, the alumni and the Board of Trustees. "However, the Science Council's report should also serve as a guideline for us to continue to develop at the highest level in the future," added Mühlhahn.
Friedrichshafen's Lord Mayor Simon Blümcke is also pleased with the result of the WR: "I have come to know Zeppelin University as a special place that enriches Friedrichshafen in many ways. The Science Council commission confirms that the university has developed very well in recent years."
Zeppelin University was awarded the right to award doctorates for the first time in 2011.
