Friedrichshafen. Professor Dr. Alexander Eisenkopf, holder of the ZEPPELIN Chair of Economic and Transport Policy at Zeppelin University (ZU), has been appointed as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Economic Council of the CDU e.V.. The proven transport expert would like to contribute his economic expertise and political experience to the committee, particularly in the areas of transport, infrastructure and mobility as well as energy and climate policy.
The Economic Council of the CDU e.V. is a nationally organized business association whose foundation was initiated in 1963 by the then Federal Minister of Economics and later Federal Chancellor Ludwig Erhard. With around 13,000 members, the association sees itself as the regulatory conscience of politics and a strong voice for the social market economy in Germany and Europe. The Economic Council represents the interests of the entrepreneurial economy vis-à-vis politics, administration and the public and is committed to a strong, internationally competitive business location in Germany.
As a politically independent, scientific advisory body, the Economic Council is supported by the Scientific Advisory Board. It is made up of top-class academics from research and scientific institutions in Germany and Europe and compiles scientifically sound assessments, brief analyses, comments and data, which are strategically integrated into the ongoing work of the Economic Council's specialist committees.
"The pressure on the CDU-led federal government to reform is immense, and the expectations of the German population are higher than ever before, partly due to its own ambitious reform announcements," explains Eisenkopf. "It is therefore all the more a great pleasure and honor for me to now be part of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Economic Council of the CDU, which is made up of renowned colleagues, and to be able to play my part in securing and sustainably strengthening Germany's competitiveness."
The Scientific Advisory Board of the Economic Council currently has 24 members. The Chairman is Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Lars P. Feld, Director of the Walter Eucken Institute at the University of Freiburg.
