Why did you apply for the Master IRGP?

Having studied and worked in the field of International Relations for 3.5 years, I decided to follow in the footsteps of my mentor to peruse a master's degree abroad. I had an extremely specific criteria when looking for the master's degree programme, i.e. a two year course, taught in English, within Germany and provides the possibility to explore the various areas of interests within the field of International Relations. The MA IRGP at ZU was one of the very few programmes to fit these tight criteria.

Does the Master IRGP meet your expectations?/What do you like most?

Coming from India, I was already excited to experience the German education system. MA IRGP defied my expectations. The programme was structured in a way that allowed me to freely explore the avenues of International Relations that interest me the most. My exploration was further supported by the programme director and the faculty who endorsed for changes in the course choices to accommodate for the topics that dew the enthusiasm of myself and fellow students.

The answer to every query is one email away. The university administration expresses a culture of cooperation with students by understanding that everyone needs assistance and they are happy to provide it whenever it is needed.

How accessible are the professors?

The uniqueness of ZU's Teaching Agreement, that allows for professors and students to jointly discuss and agree upon the course assessment criteria, allows for the students to perceive the professors as respected collegues. This ensures that the professors are more approachable and the resolution of any issues could begin with the request for a meeting with the professor.

Was it easy to socialize with your fellow student?

The students pride themselves on the ZUSpirit. The event board, which is run by the students, organize many events that allow for students to socialize in a non-academic setting. Students also find opportunities to bond in various student groups and sports groups that meet and function regularly. There is something for everyone, if a student does not find a student group of their interest, they are welcome to create one as well!
