André Nelius (geb. Berberich)

André Nelius (geb. Berberich)

André Nelius (née Berberich) studied BA PMG (now PAIR) at ZU and, after several years as a management consultant in Finance Advisory - Public Sector at KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft (Berlin), now works for Öko-Institut e.V. in Freiburg im Breisgau as Head of Finance & Accounting.

How did your studies prepare you for your current job?

"For me, it was already clear before my studies that the "public" was my topic. As a ZU student, I then approached politics and administration theoretically and practically. In the process, democratic theory led me to budgetary policy and this led to my later work as a consultant to public organizations in controlling and financial issues. Consistently continuing and combined with my interest in sustainability, environmental and climate policy, I am now responsible for the financial area of one of the leading environmental research institutes in Germany."

When I look back on my ZU time today...

"...I remember long nights of studying and working in the library, close cooperation with many great lecturers and fellow students, an incredibly diverse student engagement, Lake Constance, and a lot of fun."
