Currently, TOGI focuses its research on the topics of open government and administrative procedures, innovative approaches to transparency (open data, open administrative data, and the opening of budget processes), citizens´ participation (new roles of the citizens in a digital democracy) and collaboration. Ongoing projects also deal with the open societal innovation in the Lake Constance Region, novel tools of participation, social media, smart cities (Cities of Ulm, Konstanz, Friedrichshafen and Freiburg), digital twins, and artificial intelligence in the public sector
